About Us

Supporting CYP with Mental Health, LD & A

Challenging Perceptions is a registered charity, we provide services for Children and Young People with mental health, Learning Disabilities, and Autism needs. The services we offer are

•Youth well-being & peer support group – for 6 – 16 year olds and meets every Tuesday evening. Recently had to increase this to 2 sessions due to demand.

•SEND parent and toddler group – a group to support under 5s at all stages of diagnosis.

•Well-being drop-ins – allowing CYP to drop in for information advice and guidance when needed.

•Befriending

•Advocacy attending meetings with schools to ensure the correct support is in place.  

•Strategic Work with local authority & NHS, helping CYP to have a voice locally – we are on strategic local authority and NHS boards feeding back information from our service users and fighting to get the correct provision.

•Community work to address inequality and disadvantage such as - School pencil cases – providing young people with brand new resources to help them start the school term with equipment they would not otherwise be able to afford.

•Service User Forum is a new forum we are in the process of setting up this will strengthen the voice of our CYP through more community engagement and coproduction.

•Winter warm packs – Our second year providing winter warm packs in response to the cost of living crisis and to address the disadvantage our CYP face. We give packs to hundreds of local CYP who need fleece blankets, hats, gloves, hot water bottles, and energy vouchers to parents.

•Sensory Room accessible at an affordable cost.

•Sensory toy shop

•Well-being pack for school holidays
