Beyond the Uniform a joint project wellbeing project with Learning Community Trust and ACCA funded by Armed Forces Covenent.
It is designed specifically for children and young people from Armed Forces families.
Children from military families can experience unique challenges including parental deployment, frequent moves, changes in schools, separation from loved ones and uncertainty around family circumstances. These experiences can sometimes impact emotional wellbeing, confidence and social connections.
Through a combination of positive craft activities, creative expression, group discussion and peer support, Beyond the Uniform wellbeing club provides children with opportunities to:
-
Explore their feelings in a safe and supportive environment
-
Build confidence and self-esteem
-
Develop friendships with peers who share similar experiences
-
Improve emotional wellbeing and resilience
-
Learn positive coping strategies
-
Reduce feelings of isolation
-
Have fun while engaging in meaningful activities
Sessions are relaxed, engaging and age-appropriate, encouraging children to talk, share experiences if they wish, and express themselves through creative activities.
